More about Dr Guy Mitchell

Guy completed his medical training at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London. He then undertook 6 years of surgical and emergency training working in hospitals throughout West Sussex and Western Australia, before settling on a career in General Practice. He has been a partner at Pulborough Medical Group since 2010.

Guy puts his surgical training to good use in primary care. He is an experienced vasectomy surgeon, and undertakes many of the minor surgical procedures at PMG, as well as working for Sussex Community Dermatology Clinic. His main passion is sport, and he is a Racecourse Medical Doctor at Ascot, Windsor and Goodwood Racetracks. He works for the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) undertaking concussion assessment. He is also a Team Doctor for Harlequins Rugby Club providing routine clinics and pitch-side care.

He believes fundamentally that we should protect our sportsmen and women enabling them to fulfil their career aspirations whilst optimising their personal wellbeing and long-term health. He is a member of the British Association of Sports and Exercise Medicine.

Guy enjoys endurance sports including cycling, running and triathlons. In 2018 he became a member of the Club des Cingles du Mont Ventoux (cycling 3 ascents of Ventoux in one day!). He rides out regularly for local trainers George Baker and Amanda Perrett, and holds an amateur jockey licence. He recently became the UK's first one-eyed jockey to ride a winner, doing so on home turf at Goodwood.
