Radiesse® Biostimulating Treatment
Radiesse® is a next-generation biostimulating injectable that goes beyond conventional fillers to actively rebuild your skin from within. Using calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres — a mineral compound biocompatible with the body — Radiesse® provides immediate structural support while triggering the skin's own fibroblasts to produce new collagen and elastin over time.
At The Lodsworth Clinic, we use Radiesse® as part of our regenerative approach to facial ageing. Rather than simply masking the signs of ageing with volume, we work to restore the underlying architecture of the skin — improving firmness, elasticity, and quality in a way that evolves naturally over months. It is often combined with other treatments in a tailored programme designed around your face and your goals.
The result is a face that looks like a better version of you — refreshed, rested, and naturally revitalised.

Radiesse® works in two phases. Immediately after injection, the calcium hydroxylapatite gel provides lift and structural support, softening lines and restoring contour. Over the following weeks and months, the microspheres act as a scaffold, stimulating your skin's own fibroblasts to generate new collagen and elastin. As the product gradually and naturally absorbs, the regenerated tissue it has prompted remains — meaning results continue to improve for months after the initial treatment.

Radiesse is well suited to treating areas where both volume loss and skin laxity are contributing to ageing. It is particularly effective in the mid-face and cheeks, the jawline, neck, décolletage, and hands. We frequently use it in its hyperdiluted form as a skin quality treatment across the lower face and neck to improve overall skin firmness and texture. Your clinician will assess which areas and technique are most appropriate for you during your consultation.

Our approach to Radiesse® is the same as to all our injectable treatments: less is more, and the face is assessed as a whole. We do not treat in isolation. Before any treatment takes place, you will have a full facial assessment where we discuss your concerns, your goals, and the changes you have noticed over time. You will not be treated at your first appointment — this is intentional. We want you to feel entirely comfortable with the plan before we proceed.
We are also mindful that Radiesse is not reversible in the same way as hyaluronic acid fillers, which is precisely why careful patient selection, thorough consultation, and experienced hands matter so much. It is a treatment we recommend for the right patient at the right time — not a default.
But there is more to this than simply filling. We want to help you ‘future-proof’ your face, so that you age well over the coming 10 years, not just look good for the coming months. Our aim is not to take years off you, but rather make you look and feel rested and refreshed: normal, natural and beautifully you.

Conventional dermal fillers, most commonly made from hyaluronic acid, primarily work by adding volume. They are effective and reversible, which is why we use them extensively. Radiesse works differently: its primary mechanism is biological stimulation rather than volume replacement. It recruits your body's own regenerative processes, making it better suited to patients who want to address skin quality and laxity as well as structural loss. It is not interchangeable with HA filler — it is complementary to it, and the two are often used together as part of a considered treatment plan.
-
Radiesse® tends to suit patients who are beginning to notice changes in skin firmness, elasticity, and texture alongside volume loss — typically those in their 40s, 50s, and beyond. It is particularly well suited to patients who want longer-lasting results and are interested in a regenerative rather than purely volumising approach. It is not appropriate for everyone, and a thorough consultation is essential. We will always advise honestly if we feel a different treatment would serve you better.

As with all injectable treatments at The Lodsworth Clinic, timing matters.
Before treatment: Avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements the week before (including aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oils, and vitamin E — consult your GP before stopping any prescribed medications). Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before your appointment.
After treatment: Days 1–3: expect some swelling and possible bruising in the treated areas. You should be available to return to the clinic if needed. Avoid flying during this period. Days 4–7: swelling continues to settle. You may fly after day 7. Day 14: allow at least two weeks before any significant occasion. Months 3–6: the full regenerative effect of Radiesse develops progressively during this period as new collagen and elastin are laid down.

You will always attend an initial consultation before any treatment is carried out. This gives us the opportunity to understand your concerns and goals, explain the treatment fully, and agree a plan together. At your treatment appointment, topical anaesthetic cream will be applied to the area before injection. Radiesse® is administered using a fine needle or cannula depending on the area being treated. The procedure takes around 90 minutes. You will be reviewed following treatment to ensure you are happy with your results.

This is central to everything we do. We will never give you results that look altered, overdone, or unlike you. Radiesse®, used appropriately, produces a subtle but meaningful improvement — firmer, better-quality skin and restored structure that simply makes you look more rested and refreshed. Our doctors have trained specifically to develop both the clinical knowledge and the artistic judgement needed to achieve this. The goal is for people to say you look well — not to ask what you've had done.

Some swelling, redness, and bruising at the injection sites is normal and expected, and typically settles within a few days. Because Radiesse® is not reversible with hyalase in the way that hyaluronic acid fillers are, the risk profile differs slightly — which is why we take consultation and patient selection seriously. Serious complications are rare, but it is important to be treated by a medically qualified clinician who has the knowledge and skill to manage any eventuality.Choose your injector wisely – it is imperative that they are not only highly trained with an artistic eye, but also that they are medically qualified to care for you. Look out for practitioners accredited by the CQC, or SaveFace, the national register of approved practitioners: recognised by the UK Government, Department of Health, NHS England, and the Care Quality Commission.

Radiesse is a well-established, CE-marked treatment used internationally, manufactured by Merz — one of the world's leading medical aesthetics companies. As with all injectable treatments, safety is entirely dependent on the expertise of the practitioner. Aesthetic practice in the UK remains largely unregulated, and it is essential to choose a clinician who is medically qualified, trained in complication management, and practising within a CQC-registered environment. The Lodsworth Clinic is CQC-registered and Save Face-accredited — both of which reflect our commitment to patient safety above everything else.
